High school has 4 grades. 9th - 12th. You take the SAT or ACT standardized test somewhere around the end of your junior year or at the beginning of your senior year. You apply for college anywhere from the beginning of senior year til around Feb. or so. You find out if you're admitted sometime in your last (second) semester of high school.

Most high schools have about 6 periods. You do a different subject each period. You typically have some choice in what classes you take.

High school usually contains grades 9 through 12, although it depends on your area. Each grade has a name for the people in its grade:
Grade 9 - Freshman
Grade 10 - Sophmores
Grade 11 - Juniors
Grade 12 - Seniors
Grade 12 is the last grade in all American high school.s

There are going to be all sorts of people there. It may be the same or different depending on where you came from. The main rule, no matter where you came from before, is to be friendly, but not overfriendly. Some stuck-up people will think you're desperate. It seems shallow, but you have to try to impress everyone. Although, its a big no-no to pretend to be someone you're not. I'm assuming you're a guy-- if you can, wear jeans, preferably baggy, but with a belt. wear them low. With boxers. Your shirt can be basically anything, like a graphic t-shirt or a slightly-oversized button-down shirt with a collar. But, if your school makes you wear uniforms, definitely do that instead, lol.

You're going to be switching classes. You might have as many as 9 or more class periods a day, or as little as 4 or 5. It depends on your school system. Be prepared to have gym clothes ready-- sports shorts and another oversized t-shirt, unless, again, your school has a gym uniform. At lunch, try and find a familiar face and ask to sit down with them. Feel a vibe-- if their friends and them don't seem welcoming, don't sit there the next day. But if they say accept with a smile and laugh, feel free to sit at the table with them until you make some more friends, then you can become a table hopper. Heck, they might even introduce you to some of their friends.

Good luck.

Win all your fights, do all your homework and you'll be fine. (obviously, I'm trying not to get in depth too much or I'll be here for an hour)
