Is the Department of Homeland Security an office, council, executive department, government corporation of an independent and/or regulatory agency (its classification and where it lies within the Federal bureaucracy)????

It's a department the second largest next to the Department of Defense.

Its a department, like the department of transportation.

i believe is an executive department because it is on the president's cabinet and may in the future figure in on the line of succession.
