I'm getting a little confused about when to stop feeding formula milk and move onto food that we eat. She is only seven months now, and has about 4 bottles of formula and 2 solids of pureed fruits or yoghurt per day. They say when they are 12 months they can have cows milk, so when she is 12 months do I stop giving her formula milk and give her bottles of cows milk? or does she go onto normal food like us, example, sandwiches, and things we eat. Im just getting confused about when she stops her bottle altogether?? What age did you stop giving your babies bottles?

My son started on sippy cups at a year old, but many kids go longer. You can't really force it. I was just lucky that he liked the sippy cups better than the bottle. When you do start giving her regular milk, you MAY want to slowly wean her off of formula by mixing part milk and part formula at first.

As far as real food goes...it will depend on her ability to chew it. You can't hand a baby with 2 teeth, a whole hamburger. I started my son on 'real' food slowly. Mashed potatoes or mashed veggies from a pot roast at first. As he got more teeth, he got bits of broken up roll or green beans that he could pick up himself. There is no magic age to stop feeding your baby soft food, and start exclusively on food for older kids. It's a slow process, so just don't rush it. By around 18 months, she'll probably be eating what the rest of the family eats...in smaller bites.

depending on whether or not she has teeth yet she would be able to have a lot of what you eat. My son was eating more food than formula by 4 months. sandwiches should be ok with jam or something on it. If she doesnt have teeth tho u need to make sure she doesnt get it all stuck on the roof of her mouth because she will just keep eating and can choke later. I stopped bottles at about 6 months and started to use sipper cups then onto normal cups. It's really up to u and what u feel comfortable with. U can always try it and if u or your baby dont like it then try at a later time. All babies are different and will do things at different times.

Yes it is reccomended that you stop formula at 12 months. this is a good time to stop the bottle habit all together. However it doesnt always work. It worked for two of my girls and the other two stayed on cows milk in a bottle til they were two. It totally depends on how tolerant your child is to breaking off of things. If they are on a passifier its much easier. As far as table food you can start that right around nine months. You can get alot of information from your local WIC agancy too. They have pamphlets with time lines as to what your baby should be eating and at what age. Hope this helped Good luck

Okay you are doing good so far but here is what I did if it will help you or what you can do. Start feeding like rice or oatmeal cerceal for breakfast give a bottle of formula for snack before lunch give fruit for lunch another bottle for snack before supper then give a vegetable for super then one more bottle before bed. Then yes when she or he turns 1 year of age you can take them off of formula and start giving them milk. So if they still want to eat as much like how you do for formula instead of giving the formula give the milk. Also must doctors say to switch over to sippy cups at 1 but if your baby doesn't take it out of a sippy cup wait a month or two and try again with the sippy cup. Oh and one other thing my daughter at first won't take milk so doctors told me to add just a little rice to it and see if she would drink it like that at first and she did. Hope I helped, good luck!!!

I've slowly given my boys cows milk as early as 8 months mixed with formula or breast milk and continued to dillute the milk until they were 1 year old. At 1 years old is when I completely replaced the bottle with a sippie cup. But I also gradually started giving them a sippie cup with either juice or milk in it when they were around 7-8months so it wasn't a shock to them. My middle child was very stubborn and demanded the bottle so I filled the bottle only with water and the sippie cup had juice or milk in it. He didn't want the bottle anymore because the sippie cup had the good stuff!

When you take off the baby from formula it's also a good idea to wean them off the bottle too. It is recommended that we wait until they turn a year old to do this since cow's milk doesn't have the important nutrients present in formula.
You could give the baby the same food you eat but make sure it's well cooked or mashed depending on the case. My babies grew up eating all kinds of food thanks to the food processor.

Dont stop formula until she is one. At seven months WIC sugests giving straind pureed or mashed veggies strained or mashed soft fruits also you should be starting to give her stained meat smashed beans and finely chopped chicken(id wait till latter on the chicken) At 8 to 10 months they say Mixed cereals, toast squres, small peices of cooked veggies and small peices of soft fruit (banannas are my girls favorite) small peices of meat 10 to 12 months they say cerarls, bread, crackers, veggies, fruits, meat, Dont give fish or peanut butter till 3. Introduce a sippy cup at snack time when shes about 10 months because if you wait to long they wont want to give the bottle up. And until the bottle is gone completly give cow milk in a bottle Hope this helps.

it s up to you to decide but you can start to give whole milk at age 1 but you should make sure the child likes it first. there also is similac made for baby's that's over 12 mths its called similac 2 advanced i think. give her table food and see if she like it start out with lil portions and move to larger ones. try the Gerber entrees they come with the works and they are pretty good. when you start to give her the whole milk if she still prefer the formula, water it down and give it to her and then give her the whole milk she will start to drink the whole milk because the formula doesn't taste the same. that worked on my daughter and it dosen't hurt her stomach at all i checked with my doc first. the bottle can make her teeth rotten so you can take her off the bottle when she start to get her first tooth.
