Your question is vague. Do you mean how militarily or politically? Because that is what Alexander did. He conquered everyone in his path and then made the vanquished people part of his empire. Accepting their values and cultural icons in some cases. Alexander was the complete package. Brave, intelligent, and very aggressive in his quest of a larger and always greater empire. J/S

he had a good leadership personality. He assembled a great number of soldiers. He had advanced military technology, and he had smart generals. Mainly, the reason is he was a strong and stubborn person who never gave up. He also was in total control, which didn't allow for disputes to break up his empire
