This is great. Homework help means HELP not ANSWERS.
Anyway, I am feeling generous....
1. A "culture shock" is when one person moves from one extreme to the other, and they cannot handle it.
EX: When someone from a ritzy neighborhood, moves to the Bronx. Well, in the original neighborhood, it is "safe", there is nice houses, everyone drives beamers, and in the Bronx, you have to fight to survive. Noone is handed the "good life".
2. "Ethnic" means "race", so, an ethnic neighborhood, is one that is mainly Black, White, or Hispanic.
3. Assimilation - Go here... http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/assimilation Seems it is not a good, OR bad thing.

1) Finding that what you take for granted in every day life is not acceptable in the country you find your self in currently.
2) neighborhoods having mixed races or a single race other than yours
3) assimilation is often a myth, unless the migrants learn the language, understnd the law and live amongst the dominant race of that country. If they set up colonies, which they often do like Chinatown little mexico and little vietnam they are not assimilating and this causes racial tensions to develop

Sad but true...most people these days can't talk without using cuss words. As was already said, we are surrounded by it. You even hear it in a lot of the "music" people listen to. I am mature enough that I do not need a foul mouth to talk. It is very rude Given the chance, I'll say something to a person if they can't talk with out filthy words. I agree with you that it's not just the younger people, some of the adults need to grow up. At times they are worse than the younger ones because an adult uses those words as an attack method. Some people just don't care about anyone anymore. Just my opinion. Peace to all!

1. the difficulty encountered when one begins to live in another culture.
2. neighborhoods with mainly one ethnic group (italians, hispanics, african americans, etc...)
3. Assimilation is when two groups or people become more and more alike. it can be good or bad. if you lose too much of yourself it's bad.

ethnic neighborhoods are neighboorhoods made mostly of one ethnic group...? i think? they formed cuz immigrants long time ago banded together w/their own ethnic group when they first came if they didnt' speak english or wanted to eat their native foods or w/e.
assimilation is to adapt to the ways of the ppl surrounding u. it can be a good thing to take away good things from the ppl u adapt to, and a bad thing to lose ur old identity
