There is this person that I want to stop talking to completely but I don't want there to be any bad blood between us so how do I go about doing this without causing tension.

You might want to tell them that your job (or school work) is keeping you very busy, and that you have very little time to socialize.
If it is someone at your job or school, you could tell them that you are needed by your family to help them in various ways.

Tell them the truth but they still may get angry and hurt. But it is better to feel the let down quickly than to stay in suspense.
Sometimes a person may just seem like a good friend but over time you end up falling in love. Be kind because otherwise you might feel bad later.

There is no way to go about it without hurting them.
The best you can do is to tell the truth. Don't be mean. Don't make up excuses. Just tell the truth.
In time they may forgive you, but if you don't want to deal with them again, it doesn't really matter in the end if they dislike you now does it?

It sort of depends upon the situation. If it's work, I'd just use the "I've got things I need to do" excuse. Just in general, say to the person, that you think they're really nice, but you don't feel like you have too much in common. Or you could say that you feel like you already have a lot of friends and don't feel you have the time to devote to another person.

Just be upfront, and get it over with...grow a set.....tell him, hey dude, you arent my type, and i would like to be left alone, then just walk away or hang up...you dont owe him an explanation

its really awkward later on after you tell them and they might get mad so just ignore them and act like you lose interest.
