Gifts don't matter to me...why are they so important and significant in a relationship or a marriage? Material things don't mean crap! Most women are materialistic and base a relationship on gifts because they are so self centered. Why don't you get your husband or BF a valentine gift? Men are just as important! No one ever puts emphasis on the men! It's always about buying the women jewelry, candy, flowers, and all of that useless garbage that doesn't signify your love.

It's a Hallmark holiday! I prefer a card, but I never expect my husband to by me anything for any anniversaries, holidays, or made up holidays. I know he cares about me, and I tell him not to buy me anything!

Who says that he has to get you a gift? Valentine's Day can easily be celebrated without buying something. The holiday has become very commercialized. Having dinner together, going away for the weekend, or just simply stay home make dinner together and rent a movie. Instead of leaving it up to him to get you something come up with a way to celebrate together.

He should, there is no excuse. Men can be anal at times and don't think about what a woman wants. I am certainly expecting a valentine's gift or at the very least a card this year. If I don't get neither of the two, I'll be very unhappy especially since I spent money on him.

Accept that you are with a man who is not a romantic in any sense of the word and accept him for who he is or be prepared to spend many unhappy years stressing out about not getting gifts. Pick your battles because you can't win them all.

I'd be a little upset ... and for sure I'll tell him so ...

But, I won't make too much of a big deal.

After all, valentine is just like any other day. If he's kind, gentle, loves me, faithful ... then that's all that matter for me ;)

I silently thank him for not following the norms of such a useless commercial holiday.
