Some of the bones fuse together to form one bigger bone. For instance, the skull of babies when they're born is composed of numerous different bones- as an adult these all fuse into a single bone.

Yes, they fuse together "A baby has over 300 bones, some of which fuse together as the individual grows. Variation means that an adult human may have between 200 and 210 bones in their body."

Yes, the bones fuse together.
The REASON they are separate is that an infant/child is still growing. Long bones are a good example. During childhood, they consist of the shaft (called the diaphysis) and 2 or more ends (called epiphyses). In between the shaft and the ends is a growth plate made of cartilage. The bone grows in length along this growth plate. At the end of adolescence, when growth is complete, the cartilage in growth plate fuses to bone, thus making several bones into one.
At birth, many of the bones are still cartilage, and many of the epiphyses haven't begun to develop yet. The number of bones you have at any given time changes radically throughout infancy/childhood.

The human skeleton consists of 206 bones. We are actually born with more bones (about 300), but many fuse together as a child grows up. These bones support your body and allow you to move. Bones contain a lot of calcium (an element found in milk, broccoli, and other foods). Bones manufacture blood cells and store important minerals.
The longest bone in our bodies is the femur (thigh bone). The smallest bone is the stirrup bone inside the ear. Each hand has 26 bones in it. Your nose and ears are not made of bone; they are made of cartilage, a flexible substance that is not as hard as bone.

your bones fuse together as you age; by 29 years, most people have 206 again. the reason for the separate and soft bones as a child is so that childbirth will be easier on the mother. it would obviously be very painful to bear a child with a fullly formed.

as your are born your bones arnt as premature so that means by the time you get to about 17 & 218 your bones mend together to make 206 of them instead of 300 boned that a baby has. and when a baby is born there head is rarely connected to the rest of there body so it takes awhile for that to mend and so it goes on & on!
hope i helped

You're not always born with 300 bones, sometimes you are born with 800 bones!!! It just depends how many broken pieces there are!! No really, all babies bones are actually broken but as they mature the bones fuse together. They, of course can't feel it cos they're too little!!!
PEACE & GOOD HEALTH

Most of those "bones" are cartliage. As you get older, they fuse together. (You know that soft spot babies have, that's why)
