i was thinking of buying one but some of my friends told me that it can cause cancer in your brain or a tumor, or something.

If you wore one every second of every day for far longer than you could possibly live, then there is a slight chance of it, yes. Anything that gives out an electrical signal could cause cancer, but the amount of time you would need to be exposed to it is huge. You use a microwave don't you? That's more dangerous than the headset.

the gigahertz frequencies are up there in the micro wave bands, but if the phone is used for emergincies, or for very short periods of time, You ought to be alright.
