What grade are you in? My answer would depend on your understanding of science and your grade level. If your question can be restated to ask - "How are ENERGY and WORK related?", then I can provide a relatively simple answer:

All living systems depend on an adequate supply of energy and materials to support life-sustaining processes.

For example, humans get energy from food and we require rest (we sleep). Without both of these, our bodies would break down and we would die.

ALL living systems are subject to the laws of thermodynamics, which basically states:

(1) energy cannot be created or destroyed.
The sun provides energy to plants in the form of heat and light. The plant provides energy to animals in the form of carbohydrates. Animals provide energy to humans in the form of carbohydrates and proteins. Humans provide energy to plants through carbon dioxide and waste. It is a never ending circle.

(2) all work & growth requires energy - THIS IS PROBABLY THE ANSWER YOU NEED
To complete any type of work - typing on a keyboard, blinking our eyes, breathing, etc - you must use energy. All living things use energy, sometimes changing it, and then pass on some energy to another living thing.

I really hope this helps!
