I posted bail for someone.Eleven hundred dollars cash, now the defendent has made his court appearences, the court says they are keeping the money for fees and fines. Can this be correct?

I'm sure the court can apply bail money toward fines. You may be able to file a civil suit against the defendant for the amount you posted for bail. My guess is, if they had the money, you would not have had to post their bail. The court probably agrees. That's why the keep the bail to pay the fines.
