it's race thing. easier to group people. But yeah, i agree. just cuz yr white doesn't necessarily mean yr really~ white. Depends on what kind of environment u live in. I had a friend who was chinese n she came from the colder part of the region, she had snow white skin. I was really surprised n nowadays "white people" tend to self tan themselves cuz they look healthier and sexy.

haha i just asked someone this the other day! It's so stupid! Even the blackest black person is only a really dark blackish-brown. And the palest white person is more cream than white. Asians aren't yellow they're usually more a brownish colour. I'm more red than an American Indian coz I keep getting sunburned.
The colour thing is ridiculous and you often can't even tell a persons race by looking at them anyway, so why use those stupid classifications?

I know! Mexicans are considered "brown" people! I'm black myself, and PROUD, but never really knew where the term came from. Very interesting question. It will be interesting to see the responses...

Why are the Cleveland Browns called the Browns if their helmets are orange? Why is a parkway called a parkway if u dont park in a parkway? Why is it called a driveway when u dont drive in it, it should be the other way around..... That's just how it is babe, dont lose sleep over it.

I've wondered that my self. I look at my brown skin and people refer to me as a black person. : / It's like calling a white person, orange. The answer above mine comes from a real MORON by the way. Just ignore that one.

When you say your brown and your race is black it appears you are ashamed to be black. I think a brown-skinned black would be more appropriate. Hispanics are considered brown regardless of skin tone. It's not politically correct to call yourself brown. Be proud of your black race. Peace!

well, white people are called white and we are peach. I guess because black and white sound better than peach and brown. or maybe because long ago people used to be very racist torwards each other.

I agree but if you didn't have these words/categories the US Census would be in shambles! So unless you have another way to divide people in tiny groups that doesn't upset them, let it go.
