Don't even bother. A stock MGB would be very sluggish with an auto - they really don't have the power to spare. If you really want to (and this sort of conversion will cost a pretty penny!), you can put a Rover 3.5 V8 and auto tranny, or possibly a V6. Either way, its going to cost $$$$$.

Yes, but you have to ask why you really want to do this.

I would think you could ship over an old factory auto from England. But I can't imaging what you'd end up spending to put all this together and you'd be in a fix once it failed (and that probably wouldn't be long)

If you're a performance nut, an American V6 and transmission can be installed with the following kit:

You end up with a question, for all the trouble and cost; why wouldn't you just buy a miata or mr2 and leave the MG original?

None ever made for it. Plus what's the point - that's part of what makes it an MGB roadster.

whats the matter with the original?it is a simple rebuild unless yu need machine shop work?yu would have to make a template to fit the bolt pattern to mount a tranny then yu might have to cut up floorboard to fit?? lot of work and would decrease collector value if yu are restoring?

I don't know if it was even available. But wouldn't that ruin the fun of owning a car like that? Be sure to ride with a fire extinguisher.
Those cars had a tendency to start on fire.
