TexasRose is right, they don't pay into it or receive it. I have the notion that if they had to depend on it like a lot of people that it would be fixed fairly fast.

Politicians must not be given free rides on the Social Security and Retirement because they should be in equal footing with all citizens with regards to the program.

they don't pay into social security and the don't get a benefit so why would I be angry about that? What I don't like is that they play political games with it. Raise the % for employee contributions while leaving the employer piece stable. Put a means testing on the benefits side so that anyone who earned over xx,xxx, xxx.xx in their lifetime (earned PLUS unearned income) does not get a benefit.

As for retirement...their plan isn't much different then the plans available for other extremely large corporations...what's the problem?

I am more angry that Congress has been borrowing hundreds of billions of dollars from the social security trust fund (every penny of which came from FICA taxes on workers' wages) and spending it with no plan in place to pay it back when it is needed. Congressmen should be covered by Social Security and forced to live on it in their old age.

They don't need Social Security, they have the Federal Employee Retirement System and they give themselves astronomical raises and perks! In 2003, they voted against a $1,500 bonus for our troops in combat. This liberal thinks they are ridiculous!
