I am currently 27.5 wks pregnant. I had an ultrasound at 16 wks and the tech told me that she was certain it was a boy. At 27 weeks I had another ultrasound and the tech could not find any boy parts. We looked for quite a while and I could see some vague lines but no boy parts at all. The tech checked my chart from the last visit and said that she could see why the last tech said boy then, as it certainly looked that way, but on this day she was pretty convinced it was a girl. She didn't want to commit to it but we were both pretty stumped. Anybody had this experience? What was the outcome? TIA (^__^)

I was told by an ultraosund tech that although you are able to tell the gender at 16 weeks it is not a 100%. It is best to find out at 20-22 weeks. At 16 week the gentials are still swollen making it difficult to tell. It is common that they mix up a girl for a boy that early.

I myself did not have this experience but I know some people that have. At my first US I was about 23 weeks and they were 90% sure it was a girl then I did a 3-D elective ultrasound and they saw that it was a girl as well! Sometimes the 3-d ultrasounds seem to be a little clearer.

28 weeks with my first!

My cousin was told that she was having a girl with both of her sons....lol. When she did get pregnant with a little girl we didn't know what to believe. This is going to sound a little crazy but it does work..lol. It's this thing my family does. If you're in an area where there are those red fire ants, gather like three of them. Pee ina cup and go outside and pour a little on a sidewalk or flat piece of concrete and put the ants in the pee. If they die it's a boy, but if they walk out its a girl.
Like I said before, it sounds dumb but all the women do it in my family. I don't live in an area with them so I haven't tried it with this one..lol.

Oh...if you dont want to do that old wives tale type stuff just get another ultrasound..lol.

I have a son , he is 10 yrs old. Our eldest believed to look at the pregnant women's tummy(not ultrasound!) , if her tummy is big and round then the baby is a girl. If the tummy is narrow like she stuff a ball on her belly, and you can't tell she is pregnant (from her back) until she turn around to face you then you must be having a boy ! Well, they are right so I can't say they are not accurate ! Good Luck ! ;)

I would say dont hold your breath on either. If you really want to know go for a 3d scan. They really arent that much just to do the gender. I think like $86. I go for mine on Saturday.
