If you think about it, you actually don't know what 'real'
is. One can say what we see, taste, touch, smell, hear is considered 'real'. What your mind does is tell you what you should believe is 'real'. Stare at your hands and ask yourself, "How did I end up where I am? Why am I answering questions? Who created my conscious... my beliefs... what I see?" Everything has a creator. So who created 'reality'? If God created 'reality', who created God? In the end: is it 'real' or just an illusion our conscious creates?

Real is what you have on the inside. I mean that whether it is evil or good, real is what you have inside of you. You can NEVER determine "real" of anything else because it is ever changing. Whether it be your faith, love, hopes, or just how you perceive you family and life it is still what you have inside that is real...to you. To a "crazy person" in an asylum what they have inside is "real" to them also. A little broad in answer but I hope it adds to your question. I must elaborate on part of your question, you mention taste and smell as being considered "real" by some..not really. If you held something bad smelling under your nose ie: an onion or such and then took a bite of something as simple as ice cream the taste would be distorted and hence not real in implying the item being consumed. Yikes, even a little heady for me. take care. Alda

i think there is no real. life is an illusion. i start to believe this more and more as a pass farther through life.
sometimes life is like a dream. or a nightmare.

to bad it en't flawed like the Matrix in a way that we can manipulate it ;)

maybe not everything has a creator. some things just are. reality stretches far beyond that of which a human mind can fathom

The only thing that is real is spiritual. All things human mind considers tangible is nothing but an illusion. There is one conciousness and all man reflect it. The brain does not think, the body does not feel, the table - for example - does not exist. It's all a trick. It's not real. All that's real is intangible and spirit. There is no physical location. It's not where you are, it's what you are.

Try reading Peter Berger's "The Social Construction of Reality," and don't be so quick to assume "everything has a creator." How do you know that? Were you there when everything was created? Frequently philosophical questions disappear when we drop the assumptions that create them.

Reality, Being-for-another & Being-for-self
§ 91

Quality, as determinateness which is, as contrasted with the Negation which is involved in it but distinguished from it, is Reality. Negation is no longer an abstract nothing, but, as a determinate being and somewhat, is only a form of such being — it is as Otherness. Since this otherness, though a determination of Quality itself, is in the first instance distinct from it, Quality is Being-for-another — an expansion of the mere point of Determinate Being, or of Somewhat. The Being as such of Quality, contrasted with this reference to somewhat else, is Being-for-self.

If it is all an illusion, what created the illusion itself, and gave you the ability to experience it?
Thus, you come back to where you began.

One comes to believe whatever one repeats to oneself sufficiently often, whether the statement be true of false. It comes to be dominating thought in ones mind. stop killing yourself. think positive.

Real, like Truth, is realive.

What is real and true to you, may not be to me or him, or her.
