Oh no, there is no such deal really..
The physical pain is a consequence of some hurt the body undergoes due to situation.
The feeling of pain that lingers is a result of thought about the 'comfort' that we lack, in comparison.

Only if the happiness you had before was the temporary result of a bad action you did on others or on yourself. Big party and lots of drinks last night? Surely a headache today.
But if the cause of your happiness does not harm anyone, or if your happiness was the result of good actions, then the cause of the pain you feel now is somewhere else.

the pain you feel now is the pain you feel now.
that's it. no connection.no ying and yang.
having been happy before might highlight the pain by adding contrast. but it also might give you hope. its a matter of interpretation.
the deal is this:there's choice and coincidence. no pattern. lost happiness probably better than no happiness.

I think that could be the deal. Things in life can go unappreciated and things in life can get worse. Sometimes in moments of our life we exggrate our pain and in retrospect realize that the pain was not that bad. Sometimes things that once brought you happniess can cause pain.
