Girls and women wearing blue jeans. When I was in high school, girls were not allowed to wear blue jeans. If we wore pants they had to be pants suits with a jacket to match.

Also, when I was a student (back when we used to ride dinosaurs to school) no student had a back pack. We carried our books and supplies in our arms. So I'll add back pack of the things that are now iin vogue but were taboo when I was a kid. "Where ya goin' with that back pack, junior? Gonna climb Mt. McKinley after school? hahahaha" A back pack carrying student would have been laughed out of the lunchroom.

There are also a lot of things taboo now that were okay when I was a kid...like carrying knives or guns to school. High school kids in my country hick town had pick up trucks with a gun rack in it and all the boys brought their guns to school but no one was ever shot. Kids would bring guns to school for show and tell and not one was alarmed!!! TRUE STORY!!! Kids would write "How To" papers about how to care for, load and shoot a gun safely blending a gun safety class with their English class and it was no problem. Can you believe that????

We also allowed kids to smoke at school...get this...OUR JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL had a smoking area during recess break in 1970!!!! High school kids could sit around and smoke anywhere they wanted and teachers would walk down the halls smoking. No one thought a thing of it.

Everyone thought it was okay to drink and drive also. It was nothing to see cars full of kids drinking beer after school and dragging down main street. It was normal and police didn't pull them over!!! See the difference Mother's Against Drunk Drivers have made? The laws against drinking and driving have gotten tremendously more strict since the 1960's and 70's.

Just wanted to add that to turn that coin over and see the back side. It really wasn't the good ole days, was it? (Five students at my high school commited suicide in 1974...one in the bathroom and that was in a nice, clean cut, segregated (all white) school ...the problem was drugs and dealers and the girls didn't even wear blue jeans. Don't kid yourself...squeaky clean really wasn't!!

The tango was once considered to be a very 'sexually suggestive dance' in the early part of the 20th century (1920's) and therefore very risque. It was not done by 'decent' people. Ditto for the waltz in the 1800s.
Premarital sex is definitely no longer taboo, as are single mothers, and divorce.
Rock n roll was also once considered to be a taboo music style, ditto for Jazz and blues.
Every generation needs something to rebell against.

Showing that your belly is over your pants. I see girls tummies over their jeans not fat but just a tad. When I grew up in the 70's girls were supposed to have flat tummies. We wore halter tops and tube tops only if we had super flat tummies!

Also boys wore whitie tighties not boxers. And if you saw anyones underwear they were laughed right of of the school.

What was vogue and now taboo? Smoking.

Everyone wants to have kids these days, weather they are unmarried or homosexual or lesbian. It's the thing to do. 20-30 years ago this was not acceptable.

You mean like little girls dressing like ladies of the evening? Or teenage girls with their stomachs and backsides hanging out of their pants? Or guys with their belts around their knees?

Lesbians...all of a sudden, there is an explosion of lesbians. Girls now think it's hip and trendy to be gay, or bi-sexual.

Tattoo's too. Another fad that should go away....Soon.
