Under Sec 503 of Penal code, Whoever threatens another with any injury to his person, reputation or property, or to the person or reputation of any one in whom that person is interested, with intent to cause alarm to that person, or to cause that person to do any act which he is not legally bound to do, or to omit to do any act which that person is legally entitled to do, as the means of avoiding the execution of such threat, commits criminal intimidation.

Since the person had commited an criminal offence, you just have to tell the Police you want to pursue the matter, and the Police will charge the person. As it's a criminal offence, you are NOT required to engage a lawyer. A Public Prosecutor will be assisted.

A threat is just that! Until an action takes place where you are physically attacked the law can not move against the threatener.

Odd isn't it byt that is the law. You have done the right thing by reporting it as it is now on record, so if something does happen there is a likely suspect. However thse people are usually cowards and hire someone else to do the dirty work and then they get away with it because they have an alibi.

Been there and done that. No you can't sue them. There has to be a witness to the threat besides, what do you hope to gain from the law suit?

Let it go, the SOB was just blowing hot air. Threats almost never are carried out and if they did, then you can take them to court and have them put away.

Rather than sue, why not go down to your local court house and file a Restraining Order against that person. You already have a police report on file.

You can't sue some one for threatening you .Just get a restraining order and don't make waves or they are likely to come back and shoot you , be careful .
Just being right is not going to keep you alive .
