I'm not gonna do your homework for a "best answer" pick, but the French and the Spanish both assisted the rebels. The Spanish set up a false export company that was used to ship weapons into the colonies, and the French outright allied with the Americans against the Brits, providing troops, weapons, naval assistance, money and other various supplies. Take all that, and strech it out into 2 paragraphs.

I can't give you 2 paragraphs' worth, but I can tell you that America received foreign aid from France. General Lafayette visited George Washington in this country and was so moved by what he felt the colonists were trying to create that he pledged support from his own country. That was before France had their own bloody revolution.
