some people with the ugliest clothes or accessories get compliments on them, and then keep wearing stuff like that and think they're the s***

for example: if you've ever seen mean girls
regina tells cadie that her bracelet is cute or something later you find out she's lying

another example: my mom sometimes wears things that I just don't understand and are not cute to me and she tells me she always gets compliments. huh..

No, I haven't. Not really.

Generally, if people get compliments, that means that certain others think that it's an attractive item.
Of course, people disagree on taste, so...

Technically speaking, we've all been that person at one time or another, at least in someone else's eyes.

I'm sure that I've worn something that someone has complimented, while someone else thought it was ugly.

I'm sure that you have too. It happens.

I think they are complimenting the uniqueness of the indvidual that's wearing them, or the nerve that person has to even put on such an outfit.

uh no, unless people are just saying that to be nice, or joking. but actually.. i'm kinda happy that's going on, cuz i have to say.. i was one of the most popular people in highschool.. but i was ALWAYS nice to geeks no matter what, even when my friends weren't. i would compliment on their clothes, bla bla bla.. i actually admire people so much for wearing what they like, and not following the trends. so i love it when people who don't usually feel like the s**t do =]. it makes me so happy that people can actually be kind. but you on the other hand.. are not.. people shouldn't have to notice people being nice, it should be the lifestyle. that's the sad part of this question.
