Really knowing your subject. In depth knowledge is great, but time consuming. I often go to childrens books or summaries that give you a thorough overview instead. If your sources are accurate summaries give you a good overview, after all you're really sumarizing yourself. Use several to get different angles, you'll need them to get out of a corner
Then your in a position to work more on making it a little fun and getting the presentation down. I spend half my time going over the delivery. Makes me comfortable and I can adlib and fill in the time, if I have to, because I have it down really good from practice. The presentation's the thing and by going over that you are learning the material, remembering more and get more relaxed because you have everything down pat. Even all that could be done fast and just spend half the time on going over it aloud and if you have a camera for the last. Seems like everything is important because the most important is just what you said, maybe not so much having fun with it but enjoying doing it yourself. That gives you an up attitude. Going over it with an audience so you can practice that relationship with an audience, where you're not thinking of yourself or them but us. The mental attitude is perhaps, in the end the most important. OK so it's tough, so knowing that you won't worry about falling on your face, because if you don't it will be a miracle. It's so bad that you should laugh at the whole process, because it's impossible. Then you will relax and make the best speach ever, just my giving up and relaxing. It's funny, but knowing it can't be done takes the pressure off. The whole solution in speaking is thinking about your thoughts and subject and to care about the audience getting something more than thinking about yourself. Half of it is knowing or sensing your audiences thoughts and feelings accurately, that's the most important half. I think that I would start there and work backwards. At least you'll know the end and everything else will fall in place. Nothing like knowing the end or else you won't know where you're going. That's good. Work through it from the beginning. Then work back from the end adding details. Then work back to the end again. Maybe that's what they mean by knowing it backwards and forward. You'll need it when you get near the end too soon. Knowing all that will keep your mind off yourself, you'll be too busy, having fun, I hope. LOL

Perhaps putting the couple in today's world would present a very fresh, and "out of the box" perspective!! OR compare some part of their lives to today...
Such as: for entertainment they watch bloody battles at the colliseum, similar to watching two politicians debating on tv today!! (Adds a little levity and humor, yet you are stating facts about the topic.) The comparisons can be very enlightening...
Good luck!
