Animal Planet's "Dragons: A Fantasy Made Real" described it as two dragons coming together and falling in a spiraling motion while conjoined. I can't remember the specifics; it aired in 2004.

Like eagles...They mate in mid-air and if they don't "finish" in time, they hit the ground and die. That's why there aren't any more around. ;)
