The problem with our society is that people cant take responsibility for their own actions...
Blaming obese children on McDonald's etc. The teenagers that get pregnant (both the girl and the father of the baby) are the ones responsible and no one else not even the parents.

Why should society take responsibility? I taught my daughter not to have sex until she gets married. I also have taught her that if she does she will get PREGNANT. I let her read over my shoulder "by accident" here... all these girls saying.. I am pregnant and my bf left me...waaaaaa. She knows what happens. We have also discussed "what if" No I wouldn't kick her out... but she would have to be responsible. I think families should take care of what happens within. Of course, not everyone is like that either.
When they go on Welfare because they realize they can't have a baby and work and go to school too, guess what? Society is now responsible.
When they neglect their baby because they are not mature enough to know they are in over their head and then DHS takes the baby or babies... We are responsible.
The whole thing in one way or another falls back on our society.

Society should take responsibility in avoiding unwanted teenage pregnancies by means of open education. Teenagers are constantly bombarded by sexual messages, and the media rewards all of the sexy people out there and on the other hand acts shocked when there are so many teen pregnancies. Teens are not babies, and are responsible for their own actions. Use a condom, use the pill, control your urges until you are physically and financially ready to have a kid, masturbate, ask questions. Teens want to make their own choices, and then blow it by not believing that something that makes them feel so good can have very serious consequences. Parents..talk to your kids-arm them with information. This is not tantamount to giving them permission, this is helping them find their way in a confusing world. Good luck out there-and be careful

Why >should< society take on the responsibility of a teenage pregenancy??? It is the responisbility of the teenager, and then, the parents responsibility. "Society" as a whole, does not NEED the burden of teenagers running around pregnant. I, for one, don't feel like paying for someone else's mistakes.

The question is, should society start taking responsibility for it's own actions? Listening to Ozzy Osbourne doesn't make you love satan, McDonalds, Burger King and Taco Bell don't make you fat or give you heart attacks, Phillip Morris doesn't give you lung cancer and Violence on TV doesn't make you kill people. From the time everyone is a small child there are times in your life when you have to choose from right and wrong. It comes down to you making your own decision in life and not what goes on around you making those decisions. People are going to do whatever they want reguardless of the consequences.

People need to be responsible for their actions. Family values are on the decline in this country and it affects children on all levels, delinquency, sexual activity, etc. Parents need to play a constant positive role in their children's lives.

It should, but probably won't. Look at the media - sex is rampant in advertising, shows, magazines, books, movies, the internet....it's everywhere. Our society promotes a lifestyle of promiscuity because sex sells. Hail the almighty dollar, eh?
