Glenn Reynolds recommended this new documentary by former Marine, TV journalist, and milblogger J.D. Johannes last week, and I was able to watch it this weekend.

It is terrific. We're featuring the trailer over at Hot Air--which WaPo weasel William Arkin and every member of Congress should be made to watch.

You can get the movie via Customflix right here. Johannes embedded with his former unit and brings you on the front lines and up close and personal with Marines who willingly go back again and again to Iraq in defense of our security and freedom.

Arkin calls them "young and naive" "mercenaries."

The rest of us whose brains are not infected with BDS call them American heroes.

Yes, Liberals hate America and all those who defend it. That means our troops especially. Its cool tho, when our boys come home from war the democrats are going to be in SERIOUS trouble. I CANNOT WAIT. There is going to be hell to pay for the liberals..Mark my words.

I read Arkin's piece and I do not agree with him on most points, especially the aforementioned. However, it seems to me that the current attitude towards soldiers is a great improvement over what happened during Vietnam. I don't believe that if you support the soldiers in Iraq, you must support the war itself. The soldiers are doing their job best they can, the policy of the war has nothing to do with them. They are not naive, nor are they mercenaries. It is far better to have people who oppose the war treat them with respect rather than blame the soldiers for doing their job.

awesome. some fool troll this morning asked approximately Ted Kennedy's provider, as though Kennedy's lack thereof could have been by some ability adequate to mitigate the shortcoming of provider by the chickenhawks. (seems Kennedy did certainly function an enlisted guy interior the army, 1951-1953.) Cheney is on checklist as asserting he did not serve in Vietnam simply by fact he had "different priorities."

In a sense they are young and naive. But not in a bad way. Thats how we want them-young-dumb and full of ***. Willing to charge into a burning building just because its a fight. You cant teach a 40 year old to do that, but you can a 20 year old. Thats not a bad thing...thats a good thing.
Mercenaries? No. Thats going too far.

I would not say they're "heros," because they're dying in vain. Hero's die for a purpose. I believe many of them are indeed naive, looking for something to believe in. Many more of them are simply from the poorer elements of society, and enter the military because they are looking for a way to make a decent living, or pay for college. It's not a coincidence that they're aren't a lot of rich kids in the military.

You should look into how many children of the politicians who support the war are in the military. Actually, you don't have to bother, I'll tell you-none. That should tell you something.

Sure seems that many of them view soldiers as being uninformed and naive.
Soldiers I know (and the one I'm married to) are neither uninformed OR naive.
I don't need to see the movie to know what you mean.

I felt physically sick when I heard that moron writer from the Washington Post called our military "mercenaries".
The liberal mind is a sick mind.
