I hope you're truthful in saying you're not getting an abortion. But, why not ask if the baby can have some numbing medication? It's not fair for a "mother" to not feel pain when her baby is being tortured. I'm not trying to be cruel and this is in no way directed at you- it's directed at the people who seem to think abortion is like going out to get your hair done. "Oh well- I'll go out, kill my baby, go back home and chill." Those are the selfish people that my answer is aimed at.

I have had a abortion and but i dont know the correct answer but i think the answer is no. where i live there are limited abortion clinics and they all pretty much operate the same way. They dont exactly baby you. I think numbing medication might affect the way they do them. Im not trying to scare you. Its not that bad but you should be prepared. I know where i had mine you couldnt and it was not a option nor were you sedated. I imagine in larger areas they may have better procedures.

Hello Stephanie ~
I have not had an abortion, however, because you are not thinking of having one is wonderful. I cannot answer your question about asking the doctor about numbing medication so that you don't feel uncomfortable during the abortion, however, another question I'd ask is what the fetus gets for pain if it is uncomfortable during the abortion.

It's not a particularly comfortable procedure but doctors and clinics give you both local anesthesia (a shot in the cervix) and something to relax you. It's not that painful, but there's some unavoidable cramping. One of the reasons I'm for freedom of choice is that I know what it was like before abortion was legalized. Not only painful but very dangerous.

You won't feel anything during the abortion--they sedate you and numb you. Most of the girls I know who had abortions were actually put under for the procedure.

You can be put completely under to have an abortion. Just like they do when you have surgery. Of course it costs more and insurance will not cover it, but there are doctors that will give general anesthesia.

Yes, you have the option at some clinics to be put totally asleep or to have twilight sedation. twilight sedation makes you woozy but you still feel somewhat and hear them vacuuming the fetus out.
