So many people it seems, spend so much time following the lives of celebrities that it seems we've lost the ability to live our own lives and make our own mark upon the world. Are we as a culture placing too much importance on the lives of famous people? And are celebrities getting breaks (I.e., Phil Spector, O.J. Simpson & Rovert Blake) that the ordinary person wouldn't get?

Jack Nicholson dates and sleeps with women in their 20's...but if the old man down the street did that we'd think he was a pervert.

What do you think?

No more decent mythology to makes us dream, no more heroes and so much corruption: three keys to the "celebrity culture". The worst thing is that parents just don't get how terrible it is for their kids!!!

Yes and yes. Our culture is celebrity obsessed and those celebrities get all kinds of breaks that normal people couldn't get. Thanks to tabloids, magazines, ET, Extra! and even CNN we get too much information on celebrities and love every second of it.

The photographers follow stars and then the tv programs go on and on about them. I don't think most people would miss them.
