Your teacher won't like this, but there was an entire generation of kids who'd been through a world war and who had thus discovered the true importance and relevance of God and conventional morality, which is zero. They were further motivated by several other dandy developments: the prohibition of alcoholic beverages, which made evasion of Federal law into a participatory sport, and the development of radio, movies, and the automobile. Add to that the wholesale departure of people from farms to cities, and you've got yourself quite an era.
Read Fredrick Lewis Allen's "Only Yesterday," which may be the greatest book in the world on that subject or any other.

The Soldiers come back from WWI and every one is happy . the economy is good so every one has lotsa money to spend. The African American community is over coming the effects of slavery and are expressing their artistic and more cultural side. Then the stock markets crashes and from there on it is a downward spiral leading ti the Great depression and Dust Bowl.

A robust economy. Prohibition on alcohol led to a large underground type of social setting for parties. And generally things perk up after a large war has ended.
