Don't shave, that can cause irritation, pimples and pain. Just clip the hair as close as you want. Bacteria shouldn't be a problem if you wash yourself regularly. The rest is simply a matter of preference.

Trimming is better because if you shave, when the hair starts to grow back its going to really itch, and that is not a place you want to be scratching.

I agree with others, trim it. Nobody wants to see tree with no grass around it. For women it is alright but for men it is a little fem. Plus, yeah you will get bumps at whatnot at first until you get use to it. All in all it does not look like a benefit unless your woman prefers it shaven.

Lots of guys shave. I shave, and I've gotten so used to it that I don't like it when it grows back, so I just keep on shaving! Some chicks like and others don't.

Bacteria was there and and always be, doesn't mean it's bad. People didn't shave for millions of years and you think that all of a sudeen they got bacteria.
I actually prefer things natural. Those who shave watch too much porn. For them it's like a fashion.

There are too many obstacles to safely maneuver around without causing any kind of serious, and possibly fatal injury.
Trim it down, but a razor shouldn't get anywhere near what you got...

the normal patch should just be trimmed with a beard trimmer or something. however, the umm... delicates should be completely smooth. this is really only a factor if you want to... see what her lipstick looks like down there. otherwise, you can probably keep your forrest.

Actually, shaving there makes you more vulnerable to infection because there is more exposed skin and its surface has been damaged by the act of shaving
