No, I also believe in God. Why? Cause I've tested Him out. Tried for a few years to live my own way, without Him, and life sure is better with Him in it. I'm not some radical right-wing fundamentalist though!

I think the answer should be that if I am the solipsists, then you cannot be as well, although that just seems trite and boring.

I have not yet heard the slam-dunk argument regarding other people and an external world and my intuition tells me there is more to the story than I have learned. I think for this reason alone I am not a solipsist; not because I don't think it's impossile, not because I'm Christian (lol), and not because some think the idea absurd, but because there is no real argument for it. (unfortunately no real argument against it either. The failing point always becomes that the mind is capable of creating it's own destruction and it's could conceivably create the entire world as it's plaything.)

No. I could not bring myself to believe such a thing.

The emotions of others are far too tangible.
The life stories I have heard cannot be unreal.
And, the very idea is not something my own mind could come up with on its own.

Why would I even WANT to believe that anyway. If it weren't so absurd and I did, it would only make me want to jump off a bridge...

No, of all the things I aspire to be, a suicidal existentialist is not one of them. Sorry to dissapoint.

In plain English - no - please let me explain - Solipsism is the philosophical idea that "I am the only mind that exists".

so if this exsist only in my mind, you do not exsist, so you will not read my answer.

If however, there is more than just my mind, then you do exsist, and will read this, so I am not a solipsist!

Gee, I hope not. I suppose most people are to a certain degree, as we have trouble focusing on something or someone else until our basic needs are met.

I hope we all struggle against it, though.
