Proud. For a number of reasons.

The difficult thing about answering this question is that we have always been taught, with good reason, to down play our successes lest we be considered boastful or vain.

But I am proud of many of the things I have done and the kind of person I have become.

Proud that I, with very little formal education, started and continue to run a very successful company.

Proud that I am able to employ people and pay them very well. Which allows them to support their families.

Proud that I have stood by my family and friends through good times and bad.

Proud of my basic morality. Not always perfect, but I never expect to be perfect.

However, all pride has to be tempered and balanced with humility. In many cases I have been very lucky. I must never allow myself to think that I have succeeded in anything without the help and support of others. To ignore that would turn any pride into simple pomposity.

Did you just get finished reading "The Screwtape Letters"? C.S. Lewis has a chapter that deals with humility. In it he says that as soon as a man feels that he is humble, it is a form of pride, therefore he cannot even so much as notice his own humility without changing it.

Profound.

Oh, in answer to your question, I suppose I am a little of both. I would like to think I am a humble person, but I am certainly proud of my husband, proud of my childred, etc.

More humble than proud - but it depends on the situation.
