It's public knowledge, you have several choices:
Call city hall with the legal description and ask
or go there in person.

Most of this is on the internet nowadays, so I'd start there first. Just google it, ie: property appraisor (city, State) and see what shows up. If your area has a great web site, the zoning will be listed, if not, you can still call with the address or legal.
I'd do either one before I actually spent time going there in person unless you get into one of those voice mail hell systems ;-)

Go to your local planning board. If you are in an incorporated village go the their planning department. If you not go to your Town's planning board. They will give the zone and you just ask what the requirements are in that zone such as types of structures that can be built, minimum lot size, width, setbacks, height restrictions etc.
