Both McAfee and Norton offer 3 user packages. Basically, you buy the Internet Security Suite and you can install it on up to 3 computers. Think of it as a value pak. I searched for the items on Staples. Staples sells Norton 3 user pack for $59.99 ( not including a $10.00 rebate) and McAfee 3 user pack for $89.99 ( not including a $30.00 rebate). If you include the rebates, McAfee is a little bit more expensive. I use Trend Micro 3 user pack, which I bought for $49.99. So, the prices are pretty comparable. Someone mentioned the difficult of removing Norton and McAfee products. It is true that both companies' products are hard to remove, which is why both Norton and McAfee have develop their own tools to remove their products. You can find them on their homepages. Norton Removal Tool and McAfee Consumer Product Removal Tool. Recently, I read a review for both products in PC World Magazine which took a look at both companies' Internet security suites 2007. It appears that McAfee had a slight edge up on Norton. Here is the article.
"First Look: McAfee Internet Security 2007 and Symantec Norton Internet Security 2007
Longtime rivals in the realm of security suites produce worthy upgrades for the new year." -- written by Narasu Rebbapragada, pcworld.com (http://www.pcworld.com/article/id,127625/article.html)

I'd say Norton; too; ut the problem is that when it's scanning it tends to slow down ur pc.. the Mc Afee is also good but makes it less slow. Personally i use Kaspersky Internet Security and home comp Trend Micro and both of them are really really good

I would suggest Norton and yes you just have to buy the software that allows you to download the program onto more then 1 computer.

I've recommended AVG ever since Norton's QA went to crap, their installer required IE components and they started charging for definition updates.
Though now I tend to recommend Kaspersky as well since they seem to have the best product, which IIRC there was a free version though it appears that there is only an online scanner and trial versions now.

Get CA (Formerly Computer associates) Internet Security Home protection pack. It secures 1 to 3 computers. It's as good as Norton or Mcafee.....I've tried em all, & like this the best.......
check it out at:

You have to register them to your name and thereby, you can not use them on more than one comp, unless you buy the more expensive 5 user box. If you buy Norton, realize that if you ever decide to get rid of them, they will usually leave some sort of virus in your comp. While you have them, they are good. Same with McAfee. Good luck to you.

don't buy either of them: they are bloatware and cause serious slowdowns and deeply 'hook' the kernel.
get lightweight, fast, & free a-v app's like AVG (gotta jump thru a lot of hoops to get it downloaded) or AVAST!. these are just as good as the soakware.
