After spending 300+ million dollars this offseason, can the cubbies finally break through and win the WS?

If their pitching comes to camp healthy and has a good year, they can at least be in the thick of things. With Pinella as your manager and with the addition of Soriano they now have the smarts and the bats to get into the post season. Remember anything can happen in a short series.

Of course they can, and just writing "no" as your complete answer doesn't really help to answer the question. The Cardinals, who limped into the playoffs at 83-79 managed to beat the vaunted Mets' offense with Jeff Weaver (Jeff Weaver?!) and then overcome the Detroit Tigers in the World Series. Moneyball sort of proves that with the small sample size of playoff series (either 5 or 7 games) almost anyone can win the World Series with any luck. Most betting odds websites have the Cubs between 4th and 8th favorites to win the World Series. Of course they can.

I think the Cubs finnally learned their lesson that $$$=WS. I really hope they can win it. Lets just hope their wont be any injuries. I'd say they have about a 20% of winning it all.

Probably not. Not all the players have experience playing together, and you look at their roster against the Yankees, Red Sox, or Tigers. They're not any better. Also, most of the players on that team have benifited from facing National League competition.

Hope springs eternal, but unless your cubbies get some pitching, I don't see it happening.
