My boyfriend had gone through a really tough time with finances and
his cable/internet connection was shutoff. He is paying for it now, but I was wondering if basic channels like abc or nbc or fox would get
reception even though he doesn't have a cable network set up. (He never had cable, he uses the tv for watching dvds.

Raychel, when my cable went out, I could only get PBS and NASA. My antenna didn't even work without so much snow that I couldn't even see the picture.

I know the feeling about the finance thing, and cable is getting more expensive every year. I believe the only station with the least amount of snow was NBC. You could check out a super good antenna at Walmart. I have seen some there that are supposed to help you see the TV channels more clearly, but be sure and ask them if you can return it if it doesn't work. Best wishes.
