If your really concerned about the weather you can take a small cooler with you to the fish store.. Just place the fish in the cooler before you leave the store and all will be well for hours.

The betta should make it home fine. Maybe wrap the bag/cup in a towel to help keep it warm. Cold water fish like goldfish can't live in a 10 gallon. They feel the cold just the same as a betta will so it won't make a difference if you get the betta or not. A 10 gallon tank is great for a betta and maybe a few platies or swordtails. Just make sure the filter isn't too strong so the betta isn't blown around the tank constantly.

Bring a cooler to the pet store with you. Put the fish and bag in the cooler to transport, this will keep his temperature around the same till you get home.
A betta will be quite happy in a 10 gallon tank. You can also add in other fish, as long as they are community fish that do not have flowing tails. May I reccomend 6 glowlight tetras

cold water carp (goldfish) need at minimum a 15 gallon tank per fish..... they get the water very dirty, and make a mess. plus, they grow huge, and need lots of space. Don't get goldfish.
the betta would probably be fine in the transport, as long as you keep him as warm as possible until you get home. i'd suggest that if you are set on bettas, taht you get 3 females, and no males for a community tank. provide lots of plants so they have room to hide from eachother.
you could do probably 6-7 small fish in that tank, and it not be crowded or overstocked.
a website you could order one from is www.liveaquaria.com, but the fish will be very stressed due to the move, and you might have a better chance of getting the kind, age, color that you want at a local store.
good luck, and enjoy your fish!!

those beta kits are often merciless and unusual. Your staggering wager in the present day should be to get 18 Liters for an aqaurium. Get a heater/clear out etc. allow the tank cycle devoid of a fish for a minimum of four-6 weeks. then you genuinely can placed a beta fish in. yet do not till the Ammonia is right down to 0, Nitrite/Nitrate are both low. Nitrite should be 0 Nitrate should be less than 20PPM in case you question me. remember the weekly water adjustments and extra then in basic terms flakes etc. attempt this and the beta will be swimming like no day after today. yet in basic terms remember that 2 liters is type of a 1/2 gallon. extra like 2 cups of water. may you want to stay in a 50 sq. foot abode with only a mattress and loo? i comprehend i does not.

Put him inside your coat. Hey, have you been to Win Tropical on Mott St? They get in amazing Half-moon and Crowntail Bettas, early in the week. Call first to make sure they have them. I've gotten some stunning fish there.

First of all I have 13 Betta fish. You do not need an aquarium and a heater. I live bye tons of pet stores and I get betta's in the winter all the time. Betta's can live in just a bowl of water. But they can not be in water from just out of the fossit. You have to leave it out for 24 hours or use distilled water. And obiously you can't keep more than one in the same tank cause they'll kill each other. It won't die it's not to cold.

do you have an insulated lunch bag? that should work for a mass transit trip just fine. stick it in your jacket for extra warmth. any fish will need the same treatment.
