If you look at a map of the U.S. right now, you'll see the very same "shape" that you have seen for so many years. With all the different weather, surely it is different. California has even lessened b/c of mudslides.

Making a flat picture or map of something as large as the U.S., will distort the shape quite a bit. By looking at it in different ways, the distortion will be different -- the northern border might be shorter or longer on various pictures / maps.

As for the mudslides and hurricanes, they haven't changed the outline more than a mile or so, except in a very few places.

Rivers and lakes change a lot, compared with 100 or 50 years ago.

Even the mudslides in California would not affect how it looks from space. It will take a long time for the shape of North America to change.

It would not look the same. It would have much more detail because it is an actual photograph. On a map, you have to make it look nice, so they take out a lot of the tiny edge details. Also, depending on when the map was from. If there was a map from '86 and in 2020 Texas became its own state, then we would have to eliminate it from the map. (by the way, people have petitioned to have Texas seperated!)

the overal shape of the us is stillt he same... it hasnt changed so dramatically that you wouldnt recognize it... and changes have been so minute that it would be impossible to notice on a giant picture of the us continent... though individual landscapes may ahve changed they have not affected the country as a whole.
