Doesn't that depend on where your island forms and how?

The succession of the life and development of an island formed by tetonic changes (land below the water/sea is pushed above it) is going to have different processes then that of an island that is created by deposit of material (accretion) - say in the middle of a river, or as a more violent example, a blob of lava that is dropped into the ocean or lake during an erruption.
