You will need the free Avira Antivir PE here http://www.free-av.com/ >>>Try it and see if it can remove the virus. Make sure you let it run the updates before your first scan. Use a full system scan the first time you use it.

if you know for certain which virus it is form a scan, most good a-v can isolate it....if you are just getting a weird windows effect, and mtpl. crashes/garbage behavior/etc. the problem could be much worse....once you get something, you could be hosed.
avast! and avg are fairly good free a-v's. make sure they are updated before scan.... a well written virus will however turn off these a-v's so you're hosed again that way. symantec.com offers a free command line instruction on how to get rid of known viruses.

(1) Get you self a good antivirus or a free one .
(2) If you have not already scanned your comp with spybot do that now .Update it and then run it so it gets rid of all the spyware and trojans
(3a) Do an online virus scan to check if you still have any other viruses in your computer. And let us know if the online virus scan still finds any virus or spyware .
(3b) Install a good firewall

You can run a free online scan from CA.

Remember some viruses require a special tool to remove them. Post the name of the virus and we may be able to help your further.

Symantec.com offers free virus and trojan screening and cleaning on their website. The catch is that it will only clean one at a time. They want you to buy Norton Antivirus which will do all at once.
