A histogram is a picture of some set of data. It can run horizontally (sideways) or vertically (up&down). The graph area in your picture looks like it is set up for horizontal. (If you would make a vertical histogram, the bar would be on the bottom of the paper rather than the top.)

To make a histogram, you need to group the data. This was already done for you in the table.

Next, label one axis for the groups (Hourly Pay), in order. Since you are graphing horizontally, put the labels on the left side of your page. Just copy each one in order from your data table (because they are already in ascending order - that is going from small to large).

Now label the other axis to show the number of ads that corresponds to the hourly pay groups. Start with zero on the upper left (that's where your axis bars cross) and continue across the top toward the right corner. You need to label far enough to fit the data. The highest number of ads will be 24, so go at least that far. If you label counting by fives, you would have to go to 25 to make the data fit. (0, 5, 10, 15, 20, 25).

Now, for each hourly pay group, draw a bar from the left (zero) to the right until you reach the number of ads shown in the data table.

Example: The first hourly pay group ($8.00 to $8.50) had 15 ads. So start the first horizontal bar at zero (left edge) and keep drawing until you get to 15 ads.

Continue for each hourly pay group ... and you've got your histogram.

(If you had done a vertical histogram, hourly pay groups would be left-to-right and the number of ads would be represented as vertical bars.)
