Taking the fight to the enemy is the plan. If it keeps them from bringing the fight here, then I'm all for it.

To be honest, the entire deficit is disturbing. However, New York is a very wealthy city and in my opinion they can handle HS expense to cover themselves. They always keep the budget with enough play in it for emergency services and that includes calling in ALL police and security personnel. Their officers are the most heavily armored against even a personal attack, they resemble high militia. So, I truly believe they are able to handle themselves. As far as another attack, I don't think that will happen unless our men are pulled back to the US too soon.

The budget for the military must be large right now. When listening to congressional leaders during the hearings, they are making certain that the soldiers have absolutely everything they need and are attempting to step up production of their armored vehicles. They also said, that if a soldier is NOT ready for combat, he will NOT be sent to Iraq until he has all the things he needs. You can also put money on the fact that Washington is totally ready for the next one, should it happen. They have the NG doubled as opposed to before 9/11. So I really think they're doing okay.

Don't believe everything they print in the paper or say on the news. I watch C-SPAN when government is in session, which is every day. The media just blows everything out of proportion so much and a lot of their reporting is opinionated and on conjecture.

Yet another thing that makes no sense. Our borders still unprotected and containers still uninspected.Sometimes we're told to feel secure(no attacks since 9/11) and sometimes we're told to be terrified(the terrorists hate America's freedom).

“To tell deliberate lies while genuinely believing in them, to forget any fact that has become inconvenient, and then when it becomes necessary again, to draw it back from oblivion for just so long as it is needed…” (Page 223, dtto) 1984/G. Orwell

Apparently, we are now so safe, NORAD was moved out of Cheyenne Mountain last year. (This was after a big remodel of the underground compound) It's being kept "warm" but officials said it was moved because there was no nuclear threat. Soonafter, NORAD had a nuclear threat exercise(??).

Our borders and ports have been left open for five years--and Madrid and London proved the terrorist can hit if they want to. Granted, the terrorists could mount another attack--but the danger isn't all that great--the factas mentioned above prove that.

Bush isn't concerned because he knows this. But what little is left of his supprt is either rural--or is in (white) middle-class suburbs. Which wouldn't be targets--but by doing some dog-and-pony shows in such aresas, he and the GOP want to bolster their eroding base.
