I hope it depends on what you like. India is also a great place but Nepal is very very good place. You can go for Mountain climbin in the highest peak in the world, Mount everest. Also you can go for the Trekking uptill the base camp of Mount Everest. Besides you can go for Rafting, in the very very scary rivers in Nepal which are considered to be the best in whole Asia. You can also go for the yearly Annual Elephant Polo, one of its kind which started from there. Basically Nepal is a mountainous coutry with lots of mountains, rivers, ponds and a diverse nature of species and plant in the whole world. You can find all about those information in
http://www.nepalhomepage.com/travel/faq/faq.html .

India is not bad either, you have a lots of places to go like goa, Kerla or taj mahal etc.
But I would prefer Nepal, and think nepal is the best.

Greetings from an Indian!! Well you have the specific reasons to come India and it is the right choice that will cater all your needs. Come straight to Delhi as it is the premium location to most of the tourist locations. Delhi is a serious shopping city and you can find almost everything there, but be cautious of the duplicates. And you can visit Agra - Jaipur - the northern himalayan ranges - kulu - Manali. Then head to either Mumbai or Kolkota and both these places are very good for shopping and specifically the Sarees and designer sarees are pretty cheap in Kolkota. Then head straight to South India through the gateway, Chennai. Visit magnificent temples and grand architectures of Mamallapuram - Madurai, then head to Bangalore which is a cool tourist destination and visit Mysore and head to Goa, which is the Folrida of India. And lastly dont forget to visit the enchanting state, Kerala..the serene backwaters, wonderful greenery and you should visit the whole of Kerala and you can take your flight back from Trivandrum or Bangalore. And regarding the purchase of books you can do that in almost all the main cities and the exclusive showrooms are Higginbothams and Landmark It is just a gist and I can give you the full details if you mail me back..Cheers!

There isn't much in Nepal except for mountains. Go to India ... I guess.

Why Nepal or India? They are both weird countries.

OK I went to Nepal and loved it but I don't know what you are looking for. Neither place seems like a place you would go for activity except to help the people or maybe you love climbing.
Neither place is really that safe right now.
MAy you find the answer to your quest!!!
