Yes. It's called being dishonest.

No, no, no! If they ask about something and you tell them something else other than the truth, then it is a lie. But if just not telling someone something is a lie, then you better be able to live your day in half the day...so you can spend the other half telling them everything. You "tell" a lie...if you are telling nothing, you can not be lying. Refusing to answer a question is not lying. Granted, keeping most things from a person may not be the best idea, but it is most definately NOT a lie.

I'm not really qualified to answer this one as I am divorced but I have always admired my friends stance. Whenever I spoke to her in confidence I knew it wouldn't go any further... except to John, her husband. She always made it clear that she wouldn't keep secrets from him and it was always a situation which worked well. Over the years I grew to realise that I didn't have one friend in that partnership.. I had two.
That said, my Nanny would often tell Grandad that she had had the dress he complimented her on "for ages".... by which she meant that she had bought it some weeks ago and had left it in the wardrobe until a suitable occasion arose!
I guess it's all down to how small the lie is....!

Depends on what it is. If you're planning a surprize birthday party, then no, it's not a lie. If you've done something that you know will upset the person you love, then yeah, that's probably called a lie of omission.

Yes i feel it is as it is deceptive and you feel you have to hide this from them. Very sneaky and is just like living a lie. But if it is a surprise for a birhday or special occasion this is fine and fun! It is hard for me to even keep these kind of secrets lol.

I don't know... I keep a lot of personal details from other people (including my husband) - simply because they are 1) personal and/or 2) irrelevant. I don't think there's anything wrong with not wearing everything on your sleeve. Everyone has the right to privacy.
