The Chargers have one of the best teams in the NFL. Unfortunatlely for them, they are in the tougher AFC Division. They will have to go against the Patriots, the Colts, and the Ravens (if these teams are good again next year) in order to get to the Super Bowl. Although they clearly have the best running back in the NFL, it seems that their coaching staff may lack guts. If Marty learns to break his conservative offense routine, then I would probably say they would make the Super Bowl.

I agree with your AFC choice, but your NFC choice is wrong ! I say Carolina Panthers in the NFC. They did beat the Saints both times that they met this past season. Colts have beaten them and their new Off. Coord. is a 3 time Super Bowl winner with the Patriots. Give them some respect, they deserve it !

Sure thing?....LOL.....not as long as Marty is the coach there. Also as tough as the AFC is I don't believe there is any 'sure thing' in the AFC. There are probably at least 6 teams that could win the AFC next year given the circumstances.

There is no such thing as a sure thing, but the Chargers are the closest thing to a sure thing right now.

Unfortunately, any one of these following things could KILL their chances:
-LT injury
-Merriman injury
-Multiple O-Line injuries
-Another choke from Schottenheimer
and, of course,
-Just having a bad day in a playoff game. (Everyone makes mistakes sooner or later.)

They have the best team on paper, but so much of their talent rides on a few key pieces falling into place that the loss of that would devastate them.

Plus, we have to see how the FA goes, before we can declare the "best" team, even in the preseason.

There is no "sure thing" in the NFL. LT gets hurt in week 1 and your screwed. The guy at the water cooler was right when he said "Without LT, the Chargers got nothin". And the Bears are and will be better than the Saints.

They are the leading AFC candidate, I agree and so does Vegas, but there is no such thing as a sure thing. The AFC is loaded with superior teams, and any one of them could go.

hell no. chargers have nothing. and no more feel good story next season so saints are going nowhere. it will be the patriots in the afc and eagles in the nfc.

not with Marty coaching. I can't remember how many times the Chiefs were "sure things" when Marty was our coach, and we only made it the AFC Championship once. And that was with Joe Montana as our QB.
