I am not sure about that one. But to be safe I would say not to have the alcohol. It is a baby shower. When we think of baby showers we think, cake, tea, sandwiches. Not rum & cokes or martini's. Use your own judgment, if you went to a baby shower and there were people chugging shots and long Island Ice tea's, what would you think?????

Are you serious??? OF COURSE you should have alcohol! I don't know the exact etiquette, but do you really care? I had a complete open bar at my baby shower and am planning my sister's shower for June....beer and wine will be served. I have also been to several other baby showers where alcohol was served. To be honest, the ones that didn't have alcohol were the ones where I heard whispers of "God, I'd kill for a glass of wine!" I don't understand why people wouldn't have alcohol. Just because the guest of honor can't drink doesn't mean everyone else should suffer. Let's face it...baby showers are pretty boring, at least a drink or two for the guests can liven things up.

Well when I my baby shower, I'm making it strictly no alcohol. To me it is not appropriate. If you want to drink then have a barbecue or something on another night and don't associate it with the baby at all.

Personally, I wouldnt do it. People have 364 other days to drink in a year, it doesnt have to be at your shower. Then you have to worry about people drinking too much, being rowdy, getting sick, driving drunk, doing things that someone is going to get mad at them for, having an attitude, doing something that might hurt mommy!, who knows? I wouldnt even GO to a baby shower that I knew was going to have alcohol. There are PLENTY of other ways to have fun.

I feel that beer and wine are appropriate if it is in the evening. I hosted a shower for a couple and the dad brought a bottle of Tuaca to do shots! Now that is inappropriate!

You can offer like a punch with some champagne or something in it, but make sure you have plenty of non-alcoholic offerings, maybe some beer for the men. I also wouldn't offer a full bar - that's too much!

I've never seen it done, but if the mom-to-be doesn't have a problem with people drinking around her then it should be fine. Make sure everyone has a designated driver.

of all the times to drink -its not appropriate at a baby shower-- that's why it was always only for women and in the afternoon, keep it classy, and light--it's about BABY- not drinking.

I wanted alcohol at my shower... just wine. As long as it's not a party where you get wasted... sit back and have a drink!!
