There was a project done in the midwest I think, where the school kids collected paperclips. One for each Jewish person that was killed or died during the holocaust. People were sending them in from all over the world. Some famous people even contributed and wrote letters relating how the Holocaust had affected their families. People who weren't even Jewish sent in paperclips. I myself am not Jewish but I was moved to tears by the segment on T.V. Also, they donated a railroad car from the "Death Camp" trains, as well as clothing and stuff so they made a museum in the r.r. car. It was a really inspiring thing that they did. If it is something that you have to bring in, I would suggest something large enough to count but compact, like grains of rice.
Another lightweight option is the same word printed one million times.

sand is the best.....u could get in the beach for free.......easy to show.....and if any one claims that there is less than a million ask them to prove it by counting it saying you have already done so

Paperclips.
they come in boxes, pre counted. Just have to buy enough boxes to make a million.
or, sheets of paper. buy boxes of those, pretty easy to get to a million.
of, if you want to get fancy, figure out the weight of one grain of sand, then do the calculation to find out how much 1,000,000 grains would weigh, and bring in that much sand.
