Yes, sperm can live up to 5 days and if you have short cycles then it is very possible. For example, you have your period for 5 days and on day 6 you have sex, say you have short cycles and ovulate early--say about day 10--then the sperm may very well still be around to fertilize the egg when it is released.

you can only get pregnant if you are ovulating and it is different with everyone some ovulate during periods and right after but if you have a normal 28 day cycle it is around day 14 after the first day of your period you should track your cycle days to find out when you are ovulating www.mymonthlycycle.com is great site for charting good luck

Most sperm cant survive longer than about 4-5 days.
Its unlikely you would ovulate in less than 5 days after you started your period. (you would probably still be bleeding a little)
Ovulation typically occurs 12-16 days after period, and sperm has to be introduced into the vagina within 1-4 days prior to ovulation for fertilization really to occur, because the egg after it is released into the fallopian tube only really lives for 12-24 hours unless its fertilized.
Make sense???
So generally speaking it would not be probably to get pregnant right after a period.

if you ovulate right after than yes.. you need to know when you ovulate thats when you can get pregnant.. if you normal ovulate 10-16 days after your period than no you can't.. if you don't know when you ovulate you should try to estimate and look for signs!
