USA Network let her go during the show's third season stating they wanted to take the character in new directions. Some theorize, however, that her bid for a salary increase was met by termination.

I think there was a slight personality problem between Tony and her. Actually, I miss her but do like the new person, who doesn't look so gaudy and cheap looking. Bitty did a really good job, though and is a very good actress.
P.S. Can hardly wait to see Friday's episode which his real life wife Brooke, is going to be in.

It was actually a contract dispute, she wanted way more than they thought she deserved. With Tony Shaloub being an executive producer and being part of that decision she was obviously pissed, no one likes to be told their not worth as much as they thought they were. The fact was, her character wasn't doing well with audiences anyway and a she was totally replaceable as we all now know because no one really misses her. hell, no one even misses her as much as they miss the original theme song.

Ahh...same old line, the show as going in a different creative direction...However, I suspect it was the attempt to renegotiate the contract that did it.
