Aren't both philosophies pretty simple minded? Isn't capitalism, tempered by socialism, the key to providing health and prosperity
to all? Or are we simply stuck on ism.

the simple fact is... government is blatantly needed for at least some things... be it the very basics of military and building roads... at the very least

people like to think in these black and white terms with everything... when most of the time... if you think about it... a combination of the two would be best...

every time anyone is blinded by party rhetoric over common sense, America gets to be a little worse of a place to live...

Government ONLY where individuals or private companies can not provide. For example: national defense, common currency, national trade agreements, foreign policy. In other words, only the things outlined in the Constitution. Socialism is evil in all its forms and is never the solution. Socialism ONLY provides to a few by STEALING from the rest. That "solution" is inefficient and immoral.

NEVER, the government has screwed up every thing it has touched. social security was a good thing to start with and it would be dirt cheap now if it was left alone. social programs are much better served in the private sector. school would be 1000000 times better off if controlled by local government. you cant name one thing that the government has improved except the pay raise for congress.
