Renault had the legendarily bad Le Car in the US in the 80s. I believe that came about from involvement with AMC. The car is still mocked to this day. Many older Americans, when they think of French cars, think of the Le Car. It's about on par with the Yugo in the eyes of those who remember them.
So Renault has a lot to overcome if they were ever to return.
Peugeot didn't have any missteps that bad with their 80s foray into the US market, but the stigma rubs off on them. What's worse is that their cars these days aren't as good as Renault's. If Renault can't overcome the French-car stigma, Peugeot sure as hell can't.
And because of the negative perception towards French cars (nevermind the idiotic France-bashing that goes on apart from cars in the US), it is not worthwhile for Renault and Peugeot to bring their cars into compliance with US safety and environmental regulations. That's a process that can take a while, and requires lots of engineering and testing, it can be quite expensive.

both of the two companies you mentioned did sell there cars in canada . i dont know if they did in the states.
i owned a renault it was ok i totalled it so i cant say if it was great i will say i never see them on the road now so that cant be good.
the two companies no longer sell them here.
i think the reason they dont sell them here is that it costs a huge amount to set up a dealer network. Renault was tied with american motors when it was sold here . i think it was the renault that bought into amc but it could have been the other way round anyway when amc bit the dust and chrysler bought them they didnt carry on with the renualts .
as for peugeot they do sell them here but they are almost as rare as a ferrari . i think that in toronto down town fine cars might sell them that is a place that sells really high end cars. other then that and i remember the doctor across the street had one years ago i dont see them around .

They used to export to the U.S. but they stopped in the 80's because they made an inferior product no one would buy the last stab was the Peugeot 505 and the Renault feuago both were fair cars but could not compete against the American Autos , Honda or Toyota because they were not in the same league

Have you ever heard of a Renault Alliance? It was one of the BIGGEST pieces of crap ever allowed in the US (along with the Yugo). IN FACT, Yugo was here in the US from '86-'87 and the Alliance was here '87-'88. Neither made any kind of impression on US buyers except for how terrible they were. After a major fail in the US market, Renault has not even tried to re-enter.

automobiles are presented with signal lights, with a view to go away them on even as utilising, or placed the hazzards on even as they prefer to park illegally, by technique of pretending they broke down. Plus they do seem especially even as they flash on n off, its type of a relaxing result..... 'on n off n on n off n on n off...' also they make a lovable clicking noise that you'll use as affordable backing on your own in-motor vehicle-sing-alongside.... there is not any criminal responsibility to apply turn alerts, they are genuinely there as a an help to make different street consumers conscious of your movements... yet in case you or different drivers opt for now to not use them, then there is not something each person can do, except stress defensivily and be prepared that the driver infront may turn devoid of signalling. perchance motor vehicle manufacturers ought to provide bumper stickers to state that.. like hows my utilising call: xxxxxxxx . caution this motor vehicle may manuever devoid of previous signalling. Or something worded like that
